Carmen attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and received a B.S. in Biology (pre-veterinary track) and a B.A. in English (literary track). She joined AMWA to pursue her passion for science and writing.
She has served in the military for over 12 years, half of which was spent as a construction engineer and the other half as a veterinary technician. She has traveled to Panama and El Salvador to build schools and medical clinics and to Spain and Saipan to provide veterinary care to residents.
Carmen has worked in the veterinary field for almost 20 years and continues to do so through part-time work. Full-time, she works as a regulatory analyst to ensure safety data sheets and other documents for raw materials comply with their country's rules and regulations.
In her free time, Carmen enjoys taking her dogs on adventures, photographing nature and her furbabes (two cats and dogs), collecting fascinating rocks and agates, doing various arts and crafts, and spending time with her husband and friends.
