Michael (Mike) Franklin, MS, is a Principal Medical Writer on Evidera’s Medical Writing and Healthcare Communications team. Mr. Franklin is a medical writer with more than 15 years of experience in medical research writing. He has written 100+ medical publications, including original research reports, review articles, book chapters, case series/reports, letters to the editor, invited commentaries, and conference abstracts/posters.
Areas of disease expertise include hematology, immunology, oncology, and neuroscience. His immunology experience is diverse, ranging from cell-based cancer immunotherapies to transplant immunology to the role of complement in sickle cell anemia. He has written single case reports and case series, usually related to cancer therapy. Much of his case series writing experience involves research related to a large prospective data registry of transplant recipients.
Prior to joining Evidera, Mr. Franklin was a medical writer for 15+ years in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation at the University of Minnesota. In this role, he collaborated with clinicians and scientists on hundreds of writing projects, mainly journal articles and grant applications.
He also taught annual seminars on scientific writing, journal club, and other communications-related topics for faculty and post-graduate trainees. For 20 years, Mr. Franklin also served as the senior managing editor of Translational Research, a monthly, peer-reviewed medical journal. Mr. Franklin earned an MS degree in science journalism from Boston University in 2002. He has been a member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) since 2007, where he earned an AMWA Core Writing/Editing certificate in 2011 and served as the AWMA North Central Chapter President in 2011.
